Work With Jim

I build things that help people move forward.

Sometimes that means helping someone rebuild their life through ownership, discipline, structure, and proof.

Sometimes it means building a website, publishing system, private AI assistant, workflow, or practical tool that solves a real problem.

The work may look different on the surface, but the process is usually the same. Find the real problem. Define what the solution needs to do. Build it. Test it. Correct what does not work. Keep going until the result is useful.

I am open to selected opportunities in two areas: recovery and rebuilding, and practical systems and technology.

Recovery, Rebuilding, and Discipline

I have been sober since August 2, 2015, at 2:33 a.m.

My recovery did not come from waiting to feel ready. It came from ownership, structure, repeated action, higher standards, and the decision to stop giving the old version of me authority.

Since then, I have worked in corrections, law enforcement, court services, and professional recovery support. I am a Certified Peer Recovery Coach and have worked directly with people facing addiction, mental-health challenges, incarceration, instability, and the consequences of lives that have gone off course.

My recovery work is built around a simple belief:

People need support, but support should help them become stronger, more capable, and less dependent.

I do not teach permanent powerlessness. I do not believe recovery should become another identity someone is trapped inside. I believe people can rebuild self-trust, raise their standards, create proof, and build lives they no longer need to escape.

I may be a good fit for:

  • Recovery, resilience, or discipline speaking
  • Training for corrections, public-safety, or community organizations
  • Recovery and mental-health program consultation
  • Workshops built around ownership, standards, identity, and discipline
  • Interviews, podcasts, panels, and written contributions
  • Selected one-on-one recovery or rebuilding conversations
  • Organizations looking for lived experience combined with frontline professional experience

I am not currently running a large coaching program or selling a packaged recovery system. I am open to serious conversations and selected opportunities where my experience, frameworks, and perspective can provide real value.

Building, Publishing, and Practical AI Systems

I have always been a problem solver.

I started repairing computers years ago. Today, I build websites, publishing platforms, private AI systems, WordPress tools, workflows, and software projects using directed AI-assisted development.

That does not mean I type one sentence into an AI tool and blindly accept whatever comes back.

I define the problem. I set the requirements. I make product decisions. I test the work in real use. I catch failures. I correct weak behavior. I verify the result. I document what changed and why.

The AI helps me move faster, but the judgment, direction, standards, testing, and final decisions are mine.

My current work includes:

  • Bonumark Stream, an independent publishing and microblogging platform
  • Cypher, my private personal assistant and knowledge system
  • WordPress themes, publishing workflows, and site architecture
  • Privacy-first analytics and media tools
  • AI-assisted content, memory, and publishing systems
  • Product design, testing, debugging, and workflow improvement

I may be a good fit for:

  • WordPress and owned-publishing projects
  • Publishing workflow audits
  • Private AI assistant and knowledge-system planning
  • Practical AI integration for creators or small organizations
  • Website structure, content systems, and publishing architecture
  • Product testing and usability reviews
  • Workflow design and process improvement
  • Directed AI-assisted development consulting
  • Turning an idea or recurring problem into a clear build plan

I am especially interested in work where ownership, privacy, reliability, and practical use matter more than hype.

How I Work

I do not start by asking what features sound impressive.

I start by asking what problem needs to be solved.

From there, I work through a direct process:

Define the Real Problem

What is failing, missing, confusing, inefficient, or unreliable?

Set the Requirements

What must the solution do in actual use? What limits, risks, users, and existing systems need to be considered?

Build the Smallest Useful Version

The first goal is not perfection. The first goal is something real enough to test.

Test the Actual Behavior

Does it work outside the ideal scenario? What happens when the user makes a mistake, the data is incomplete, the schedule changes, or the workflow breaks?

Correct What the Test Exposes

A successful test is not one that protects the first idea. It is one that reveals what still needs work.

Verify the Result

The work is not finished because the screen looks right or the code runs once. The result has to hold up in real use.

This process applies whether I am helping someone rebuild a life, improving a publishing system, or testing an AI assistant.

The problem must be understood.

The standard must be clear.

The result must create proof.

Why Work With Me

I bring an unusual combination of experience.

I have led people and managed operations. I have worked in technology, loss prevention, corrections, law enforcement, court services, and recovery support. I have built websites, software projects, publishing systems, written frameworks, and practical tools.

I understand pressure.

I understand people.

I understand systems.

I understand what happens when something looks good on paper but fails in actual use.

I also understand rebuilding from the ground up because I have done it in my own life.

I am not interested in adding more noise, creating another empty strategy document, or selling someone a solution they do not need.

I want to understand the problem, build something useful, and leave the person or organization stronger than when we started.

Start a Conversation

If you have a recovery, training, speaking, publishing, WordPress, workflow, or practical AI project that may fit my experience, contact me and tell me what you are trying to solve.

You do not need a polished proposal.

Tell me:

  • What is happening now
  • What is not working
  • What you need the result to do
  • Who the work is meant to help
  • What you have already tried

If I believe I can help, I will tell you what I think the next step should be.

If I am not the right fit, I will tell you that too.
